gong xi fa cai... exercise na lai!!!

even though i'm working now and walking around more than i did when back in school, i still yearn for the day when i actually start exercising again. the problem is... walking around while working drains your energy, but it's not as effective as a thirty minute jog. so without all that exercise, i've taken ill twice in 2 months, whereas last year, at the peak of my physical period, i fell sick once in 6 months!!! that's a damn big difference to me lah. honestly i hate falling sick. coz falling sick means gotta spend money buying stuff to make u feel better, and u become less productive, you have to eat shitty bland food, your voice goes funny, your stomach goes funny, your muscles go funny, your brain goes funny, and your sleeping pattern goes funny. yah so being sick sucks. so to not be sick, i have to exercise more, but to exercise more i need more energy, but to have more energy i need to stop working hahaha so how? oh well...

chinese new year is here... means more food to make me FAT. sianz. not much mood again as usual, just that the hong baos come in and i gotta keep pouring drinks, and i can already assume what people will be asking me when they come over for the family lunch. pretty standard lah i guess. when you going ns, when will you know your results, how do you think you will do, what do you want to study in uni, how's your sister... hahaha standard questions lah. oh well... four day break... and hopefully badminton on wednesday.

actually nothing bad about it at all lah!!! so damn fun to just smash the hell out of a cock with hair... i mean feathers hahaha today met up with louis, don, ming yuan, pradz and chris again. 2nd time already. this week's games were more... intensive? i mean we did have our share of laughs, but we played alot harder then last week lah i guess. i guess i've improved this week hahaha last week was really shit! never play for so long... cannot do anything hahaha

an example... last week i lost to pradz in singles 15-6. this week i only lost 15-13 and 15-12. improvement lah. shall beat him one day. my target for now. then chris beat pradz, so he's next hahaha ultimate is louis lah... that one... we shall have to see my rate of progress hahaha i shall update accordingly ;) oh yeah and today i tried a couple of jump smashes, and even though not all of them connected that well, but then all went down with some significant power hahaha so yeah... hopefully i can work on that :) since my greatest strength as i can see is my smashes :p my drops and netting need quite alot of work hahaha

clar, many and i were just talking about a cny steamboat for the class. a damn good idea for me lah, but then they wanted to hold at my place. i guess it's ok since i got 2 steamboat boats, and i got a huge wooden table that can sit like 20 people, even though i doubt tt many ppl will be here, but both weekends after cny i'll be working lah! damn sian. i mean we can have at marina bay lah, but then it won't be as cosy and private you know what i mean? anyway shall think about that one for now. will have to consider josh and derek, our 2 commandos.

and forgoodness sake... DEREK AH!!! bet u trying to be hero then jump off somewhere then can have knee ligament strain right!!! if u kenna out of course u will be in HELL i tell you! like no one will want you i think... kenna some store job or something :( look after yourself man

oh yeah met bang today too. him, me and rao had lunch at clementi. bang kenna platoon IC lah, so no voice hahaha plus he's come down with the notorious "tekong cough" so his voice is all hoarse now. but his arms have grown in size lah *duh* been through his 4 click route march already, so his knee hurts too. damn it must do some strength training for my knees now man. my ankles are quite strong already lah, thanks to all the vball and badminton. wonder how to train up knees... an injured knee isn't a very fun thing to live with. already someone in bang's platoon screwed up his knee... dunno broke or what lah, but was damn friggin painful. yeah... look after your knees...

and already i've learnt alot. not just about engineering as whole, but about certain working characters as well. some people are really good at teaching and know what they're doing, there's the don't really know what they're doing and can't teach for nuts, there's the know what they're doing but don't give a shit anymore, there's the know what they're doing but due to the need to stop to smoke end up wasting alot of time hahaha then of course there's the people who u get the feeling don't really want you to be there hahaha

being with the guy who doesn't really know what he's doing and can't teach for nuts, is really really boring. made those couple of days i was attached to him seem REALLY DAMN SIAN!!! hahaha but today i was with the guy who's good at teaching and knows what he's doing, and time seemed to fly by. so it's all about who u're attached too hahaha actually i wanna do alot more in the place lah, but i don't really have the means to do it. because there are the full time technicians there who will respond to all the complaints and stuff, and even though they curse and swear sometimes, they still get the job done lah. so there's not much room for me to do things on the guest floors except change light bulbs :p all the repairing is done by them hahaha oh well... just do what i can lah... coz eventually one will run out of things to learn...

ok so the reason why i haven't really been blogging lately is coz i've been playing soul caliber 3 and now god of war on bang's PS hahaha the PS starts more quickly and offs more quickly, and there are newer games, so just play that for now lah, even though i haven't finished NFSU MW yet, mainly because that game requires alot more time, which i don't really have right now hahaha the main reason why i'm on the computer now is so that i can adjust my driving lesson schedule since i got my roster already.

anyway february and march i'll be doing shift duty. basically shift duty means 7 days of working, and 2 days off, and the cycle continues. usually it's 3 morning, 2 afternoon and 2 night. morning is 0800 - 1645. afternoon is 1415 - 2300. night is 2300 - 0800. so when i'm doing night shift... will be trying my best to stay awake lah hahaha but apparently night shift flies by alot more quickly. maybe coz there's less people walking around, and it's just quieter overall. plus it's dark outside, and there are fewer engineers around to fix the problems, so u gotta do most of it, and time flies faster when u're actually doing something.

anyway work... ok lah. hahaha nothing really fantastic about it. just slowly learning more and more stuff about all the massive equipment in the hotel, and exploring areas that seem to come right out from a suspense movie (think alien). one of the guys there are really negative lah. but he does teach me stuff, but he's just too negative. i always try not to hang around him too much hahaha some of them are actually nice guys lah, except they smoke, so i just stay away from the smoking area, which unfortunately is in a location such that i have to walk by there every time i go to or leave the workshop. but what to do... hold your breath and walk faster hahaha

in feb and march i'll have a couple of off days on fridays, which means i can go back cj and PLAY VOLLEYBALL!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH!!!!! BUT!!! jialat man... go back there sure throw face one hahaha gg back in february means i wouldn't have played for 2 whole months... omg... hahaha probably cannot dig... spiking no accuracy, and setting... don't even start lah. never could really set in the 1st place :p

oh well till end of jan i'll be doing 9 to 5... so that's all for now. i miss my class man, but not the school. oh well hahaha take care all :)

when it rains, it pours...

last 2 days... omg there must've been this massive rain cloud hovering over singapore or something hahaha last time such rainfall didn't mean much to me. i mean i actually enjoyed it lah. can stay at home and just SLEEP! but when u're working in the engineering department in a hotel, it tends to bring with it certain... hydro-related problems. and whenever u deal with hydro-related problems, it's highly unlikely that u'll stay dry as well hahaha

well biggest problem was room 615 balcony lah. flooded to about the middle of my shin. i mean the balcony is so big, and yet the drainage hole is so damn small... only slighty bigger than a 50 cent coin. what's the bloody use lah! and so it got clogged with heaven knows what crap, and that made the water black when u churned it. hotdog (my colleague's nickname) jumped in and tried removing the clog with a metal wire lah. cannot. then vacuum... also cannot. spent dunno how long in that room lah! then stopped for lunch, after we managed to get like half the water out. then... IT STARTED TO RAIN!!! abort mission loh... no choice. just took out more water. dunno what they're going to do about that choke. major one sia.

then carpark ceiling leaking, another room ceiling also leaking... aiyah, the more it rains the more the leaks show lah. but some leaks really cannot fix lah, like the carpark one, coz the pipe goes into a beam and then into a solid pillar. wth man... can't see the pillar even if we wanted to. they even dragged out the detailed building plans man, just to see where the pipe goes hahaha

so anyway monday is apparently always the busiest day, and sunday is always the most boring. luckily i don't work sundays :p anyway back to reading torque. got new aston martin coming out man... cool. new honda civic too! talking about cars... i think i'm going to help my mum polish her whole car tmr. wonder how long that will take hahaha then do some housework before i go out. i'm not like the fix it guy at home lah... manual labour too. but it's ok lah. at least i got things to do hahaha instead of just rotting on a chair.

i like my job...

even though it might not seem interesting to most people, but i always was interested in using my hands to do jobs lah. like fixing stuff or building stuff lah. always wanted to do that since i was a kid. so now i'm doing it! :)

anyway yesterday didn't blog coz came home kinda late. met rao and bang for dinner. actually met them at PS, but then rao wanted to go play pool. and since the rain stopped we started walking to paradiz. then on the way there IT STARTED POURING!!!! wah then run lah! never run that far for DAMN LONG LAH!!! hahaha legs were a lil wobbly after tt coz was walking the whole day in the hotel, and i was kinda hungry. so ate dinner at food court before we went to play pool. i now officially declare that i've forgotten how to play pool. honestly... don't challenge me, coz u're bound to win hahaha totally suck man. lost EVERYTHING! maybe it was coz i was tired, but then i really sucked :p after tt went bang's house for the last time in a long time to borrow his PS, since he won't really be needing it for 3 months hahaha so it was farewell to bang... hope he has fun hahaha even though he keeps complaining about it, but he'll be fine lah. bloody hell ncc air lah. drills and pt no problem already. same for me and rao. only difference is rao and i dunno how to wear army uniform, bang does hahaha josh and derek are gone too. wonder if derek and josh will end up in the same platoon, since both commandos hahaha will miss them lah... no more messing around, laughing our asses off in the middle of town. still can't achieve that with girls around... it's a strictly guy thing hahaha

work yesterday was the busiest, coz really got alot of rooms to attend to. but today was the 1st time i actually sweated hahaha but still never sweat alot lah. yesterday i cleared 3 choked sinks, today i cleared none. but tt's still an average of more than 1 a day hahaha yesterday one of the sinks was choked with green tea i think. coz when i plungered it, the water tt came out was green, along with what looked like tea leaves :p anyway today i sweated because carried some of those metal scaffoldings. now i know how to erect them! cooooool... hahaha today did even more stuff on my own too. feels good lah. and i'm not as bo chap as i think i am lah. still walk around pretty fast when i got a job to do by myself, whereas all the other guys tend to walk slower, and stop at the loading bay all the time to talk to the people smoking. now i just try to steer clear of that area lah. everytime they stop i either go toilet or go workshop and hang around and wait for them.

learnt quite alot of things these 2 days lah... but kinda lazy to write all here hahaha but i'm getting along better with my colleagues lah. some of them still a bit hard, but some of them really quite easy lah. like effandi, richard, mani. don't talk to some of them much like uncle lim, but can tell they're nice guys also lah. generally more reserved i guess. right now i feel most comfortable around effandi, richard and mani lah. khairul... still can't talk to him much lah hahaha and somehow i have a feeling rahman doesn't really like the idea of me being there, coz of his body actions everything he does something associated with me hahaha maybe i'm just paranoid :p

didn't really feel like waking up this morning, knowing that i had to go to work hahaha oh boy that doesn't sound too good does it :p

anyway felt alot more natural at work yesterday than today, although still felt a bit awkward standing in the office, because everyone knew what to do, and i had to wait to be assigned to someone. sucks... but then again i'm a trainee, so i need someone to "train" me right? hahaha yeah so in the end i tagged along with mani for most of the day

lets see... took chiller meter readings, fixed 2 exit sign light bulbs and one corridor light bulb, unchoked a clogged sink (again), put silicone around the tile for the toilet bowl, fixed a leaking sink by replacing the bottle trap, put up some posters for the spa, witnessed a great deal of effort and thought going into how to phrase the sign outside the lobby ladies toilet saying that it is under repair hahaha went through heaven knows how many changes :p but overall it was still busier than yesterday lah. or at least i spent more time walking around, and i did do some really little things myself lah, but it's a good feeling. don't wanna follow someone's shadow the whole way anyway.

ahhh yes... now acs (I) is a co-ed school. so then... what of the sji-acs rivalry? the only reason why we were always "fighting" over the past few years is because they were both elite boys schools. but now that acs is co-ed... where does that leave that rivalry? sure they'll still fight over sports, but in terms of academic results, a single sex school is rarely compared to a co-ed school, plus acs has IB, which makes them even less comparable! oh how trivial... but i really wonder what is to come of a rivalry that has lasted for such a long time, has caused so many stirs in the papers, and has always made competitions more intense. i guess the only real "rivalry" sji has now is ri hahaha since the hwa chong people were never really considered as rivals of sji :p

day 1! hahaha like starting school. anyway on the way to the mrt station in my dad's car, was listening to power 98, and u know they have those traffic reports? well there as a report of a massive jam on both sides of the PIE near the steven road exit. then joe augustine said must be SCGS. all i could do was laugh. and in the back of my mind i was thinking about ___. i mean what is RIGHT after the steven road exit? ;) then later on he said that a listener msged them and he said "ohhh the school along stevens road is st joseph's instutitionnnnnnn..." hahaha i burst out laughing in the car man. simply because of the way he said it, and because i was wondering how long it would take him to realise there's a school nearer to the exit than scgs :p but imagine man... 6 years ago i entered that school for the 1st time! 2 years ago i entered cj for the 1st time. and now... WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING?!?!?! hahaha

anyway... i'm an engineering trainee at merchant court hotel. pay sucks, but the experience ROCKS!!! hahaha besides the fact that there's only 1 other chinese guy in the engineering dept, and the rest are malays and they keep speaking malay, what u learn is cool man hahaha

was brought on a little morning walk around. did some inspection. ok lah i didn't inspect, i watched them inspect :p followed them through this PUNY hole under the fish pond near the swimming pool to the water pumps. the area under the pond was HUGE!!! at least 2 storeys high. but the door... omg... even shufang would need to bend down. yes it's that short hahaha i guess they wanted to make the door inconspicous :p

after that was brought around the hotel facilities lah. got cooling room, sprinkler room, boiler room x2, water tanks on the roof, fire sprinkler valves, and practically every back door there is in the hotel hahaha ok lah i didn't go to B1, but i walked around practically the whole of level 1 and B2 :p walked around ALOT today... mainly between their main office and the workshop lah.

before and after lunch followed khairul around as he checked out guest complaints. quite interesting lah. learnt how to crack a hotel safe, kinda messy but it works, cleared a chocked sink of PUKE, changed a couple of lightbulbs, checked out 3 phone connection problems, changed an aircon controller, fitted back a toilet mirror. yeah tt's all the stuff in the room today. can be a handyman soon... ok maybe not THAT soon, coz so far i've just looked, haven't really DONE anything yet hahaha but at least i took notes :)

anyway the guys (NB: no girls AT ALl) i'm working with are all really quite nice lah. yah some of them smoke, and the 2 guys i was following around stopped to smoke on 2 separate occasions, so i just stood upwind, so the fan would blow the smoke away. both asked me if i smoked, and when i said no, both said "GOOD! don't learn from me" at least they're not trying to influence me, which i find really good. and some of them gave me good advice about what engineering is about and how i should deal with it and people in the hotel. overall learnt some really valuable stuff today lah.

tomorrow will bring more stuff so i'm more prepared. today didn't bring some things. i mean the engineering uniform has like... 8 pockets altogether? 2 breast, 2 sleeve, 4 pants :p hahaha won't be able to fill all of them up lah, but it's damn funny to have so many pockets on you :p and i thought cargo pants was extra hahaha
