exam birthdays...

t19 met up tonight to celebrate 4 people's birthdays hahaha since 2 of them occured during the exam period, and 1 just passed and one more is coming. passed them all their presents at fish & co at park mall. the big "glass" building at the corner. and just nice they were having some offer, 10++ for 7 different types of fish and chips! so cool! so we had real good timing this time around. i shared half a meal with chip... then cheryl came a while later, and i shared another half with her hahaha

if you're wondering why i shared half a meal with chip in the 1st place, it's cos i spent half the day at josh's house hahaha played guitar heroes (duh...) and watched wall E and madagascar on his freaking big tv!!! ok i practically slept through most of madagascar cos i was really tired and my right eye really hurt to the extent that it teared quite badly on several occasions. after the nap it felt much better... thankfully.

tomorrow going to play badminton with wendy and her friends. was supposed to play last sunday as well, but had a rather nasty incident. left a nice long line down my left arm. if not for the racket bag behind my back, i'm quite sure i would've gotten some injury there as well. well my arm is healing quite well so far, just damn itchy!!! hahaha but whatever it is i hope i don't get injured tomorrow because competition starts on tuesday!!!

ok better rest early tonight... hope wendy isn't too cold in the cinema. didn't bring a shawl along... must be freezing cold. jialat...

feel good times...

if everything went according to plan, i would be on a plane to bangkok right NOW! but obviously... no one in their right mind would want to go to bangkok, especially since the exact same group of people that the PAD just ousted from the government is going to regroup and come back for round 2. which would probably mean that the PAD would be back for round 3! oh well... at least we managed to get all our money back. poor budget airlines losing alot of money.

i'm at home in my room now, typing my now fixed laptop. i'm glad i didn't have to throw this away, because wendy spent sooooooooo much on the skin for me. BUT! i lost my nike water bottle that she got for my 21st birthday =( stupid me left it in the bus after exams on the way home. never take bus for so long already, and i had to leave my precious bottle on it =(

spent the previous 4 days in school, due to badminton training. the 1st 2 days of training were horrible/horrendous/disgusting. i couldn't do anything right. felt like such an idiot. all my lifts went out, made all the wrong decision. all my smashes went into the net. "how to go competition like that?!?!!" was written all over my face. but thankfully last night my doubles partner and i worked out our game plan. we made things more fluid and flexible, and my game improved. somehow yesterday something flipped on my badminton switch, and i could play again!!! hahaha so i was a happy chap last night =) came home rather tired, but at least i felt good =)

guitar heroes world tour is damn fun!!! sure the guitar parts for some songs aren't that hard, but when you have derek trying to sing a spanish song, it's always fun hahaha going to play again on saturdayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy... can't wait =)

my exams SHOULD be over like now, just like koon's. but i've got one more final maths paper on tuesday. quite hard to sit down and study for it. but it's too late to forget about it now. just look forward to tuesday 1530hrs. then can finally get out of hall. so miserable staying in hall for so long man... but still gotta go back for badminton training. anyway... friday GHWT at josh's house, saturday sentosa, sunday badminton with wendy and her friends. WOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! but before all that, i gotta do more integration problems. crapppppppppp

status report!

had 2 papers this week... econs and physics. have to say both have gone rather well for me... so basically it's so far so good. the shittiest part is this coming week. materials science on tuesday, and life science on thursday. crap... totally crap.

i spent so much time practicing econs and physics, while life and materials science are like from some other planet, probably pluto (ok so it's scientifically not a planet anymore... but we all know it's really really far away, and that's the point!) while i have to say materials isn't THAT hard, but the fact that there are so many new formalae, and they're running out of symbols to use to represent all the different terms. there's just too many rou and epsilon in my notes, and i have to remember all that crap?!!?!

life science... don't need to say la huh. i'm majoring in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING!!! so biology is involved because...? haiz... the subject code really fits the subject. BS1004. really B.S. man hahaha i remember i really didn't wanna take bio for O levels, because of all the funny names and things we had to remember, and now it's come back to haunt me. oh well... as long as i don't have to da bao it then it's fine.

the 1st semester in school is coming to an end so soon. holy crap man... these 4 years are going to fly by damn quickly. ok maybe not so fast when i'm not staying in hall anymore, because travelling time will probably kill me. shucks...

oh ya! my sister got into a car accident a couple of days ago. can't remember which day exactly... i think it was thursday. well... she didn't so much get INTO the car accident. rather the car accident came onto her hahaha got rammed from the back by a taxi. smashed up my mum's car boot totally, apparently the left rear door couldn't close properly either. luckily no one got hurt. she's just got a stiff neck that's all. ahhh well... will get a new boot and bumper and reverse sensors and exhaust pipes and brake lights and door frame and maybe new rear tires hahaha the weirdest part of the whole thing was, when my sis somehow managed to drive the car the kah motors (which is the HONDA workshop in case some of you don't know), they gave her a TOYOTA altis is a replacement. talk about advertising for your closest rivals. a case of keep your friends close and your enemies closer? hahaha

my exams start in 5 days, and where am i? i'm in penang!!! argh!!! so wrong! i should be in my hallroom or in the library buried in some physics equations and econs notes. jiayou for exams... no more Cs on my results slip. but then again... i'm not too happy that i need to worry about these pseudo-cores like life science, when i could be spending more time on my real cores like physics and maths instead...

my laptop's crashed on me. crappy... so i'm in the library now hoping to watch the lectures that i'm lagging behind in. got a rather warm corner though. luckily i've got an external HD, otherwise i'd be cursing and swearing alot more than i am right now. i can't even get into windows. oh well... it was a free laptop. shit happens...

this past month has really been a tough one indeed. nothing much to say about it here i guess. just that life goes on... it's just the inevitable. i just hope i end up more like my grandpa than my grandma. not the way they went, but the reactions after they left us. may god bless them and keep them safe and warm.

it's been a while. due to a number of reasons. life has gone on as usual. the world has had it's ups and downs. well more downs than ups from what i can see. the ups were singapore finally winning another olympics medal i guess. and the paralympians are goooooooooddddddddddddd!!! it just proves that singaporeans can do it, and don't have to rely on imports to help all the time. all we need is belief.

well that was the only up i could think of hahaha downs... lets see... the us economy is crashing big time, more bombs blowing up, chinese milk is screwed up, natural disasters are tearing the world apart. yeah that's basically the summary of it hahaha china is really lucky that the milk scare came after the olympics. just wondering how many people who travelled to china during the olympics period are rushing to the doctors to have their kidneys checked.

quite a bit has happened at home too. my grandma left us 3 sundays ago, my grandpa's not doing too well in hospital now. and i might not be staying here much longer. basically what's going on at home kind of sucks, but it's life and i just have to take it as it comes. can't complain too much because my parents probably have it worst off than me. especially my dad. been living here for over 50 years. yeah i'll miss the place but... what's done can't be undone, by anyone, because of what's been written.

anyway life in hall. life in hall. life in hall. it's been alright i guess. made a few new friends. of course not as many as my roomie since he went for orientation. but it's enough. took part in a couple of IBGs so i'm not a complete ghost in my block anymore at least. will i be staying in hall next school year? nope. not enough points. didn't even start trying hahaha the amount of work that has to be put in which would take up time to study just isn't proportional to the benefits i'd get from the points. so why even bother starting, right?

so many new games coming out, and absolutely no time to play them. uni life is hell. a levels was so freaking easy. mr ho's maths seems easier and easier as each lecture goes by. i miss the company too. hopping from class to class by yourself can be quite miserable sometimes. just meet friends for meals inbetween. say a random hi-bye now and then. 4 years of shit work to come. and all for a piece of paper which might not even say 1st class.

early this morning t19 left for hong kong. would've been with them if it wasn't doing special sem. just as i would've gone to europe again with my parents, and i could've gone overseas with wendy. just these 3 months of "extra" school has cost me alot of opportunities, i just hope i don't regret it with exams just a couple of days away.

just as t19 left for hk, my voice is oddly leaving me today too. this morning i was fine, except for the sore throat that's been plaguing me for the past few days. then this afternoon, somehow something snapped and now my voice is just... well... off hahaha just like how many and clar lost their voices a while ago, it's my turn now. this is really the oddest sore throat i've ever had. it's just a constant naggy feeling in my throat, but there isn't any pain when i swallow. guess i prevented the fever and flu by drinking all that water, but why'd i have to lose my voice now? =X i just hope it gets better after the exam. taking all sorts of things to help fix it now. lozenges, difflam gargle and wendy's honey and lemon concoction. tomorrow she's going to get me her 'miracle' bamboo bee juice. yes it sounds weird, and it contains exactly what the name says it is, bamboo and bees. of course i won't be swallowing any bees or bamboo... just don't ask me what's in it. it's just supposed to work.

i've made a last minute decision to buy a graphic calculator. didn't manage to buy it today, because bras basah popular, which you'll might know as the biggest popular in town, closed at 7pm! yes... 7 freaking pm. so i'll have to go down tomorrow and hopefully i can get it. it's going to cost me a bomb, but hopefully i can get it, because some of the integration that i've got to do is really driving me crazy. almost as crazy as this sore throat is making me too.

by the time t19 comes back, my exam would've been over for half a day, and i would've watched the DARK KNIGHT, and hopefully my throat would be ok so i can enjoy botak jones and pizza hut. goodnight all =)

what do you look forward to on sundays? for me... it's definitely the 2 pages filled with comics in the sunday times life section hahaha last time it was just a day to rush homework before school started on monday. sure that's going to start again soon, but nowadays i've got more things to do on sundays! soon my sundays will be either filled with badminton or volleyball. i just hope i can find time to keep my 2 favourite sports activities going... already stopped badminton for quite a while. but if what josh said about the tiong bahru cc thing is correct, then things are looking good! =)

i realise that the viwawa craze has very quickly died out for me hahaha as quickly as it started... it's ended. just like bubble tea and hello kitty hahaha only that with viwawa there weren't any queues =p

i'm missing all the orientation camps in ntu simply because i'm taking special sem now. oh well... don't want there to be too many distractions in school also. not like jc where can play all the way till the last few months and can study like a crazy idiot and still get good grades. at least i know quite a number of people who are going ntu too, so i won't be short of company hahaha

my parents are back! after 2 weeks overseas, both of them came back with runny noses and my mum's got sore feet from walking too much hahaha interesting tales of snobbish froggies and the insane summer weather. played guitar heroes for an hour after picking them up from the airport. i think i deserved it... haven't played for the whole week. just studied my ass off... it felt good to try to catch all those note combos again hahaha

birthdays and exams

past couple of weeks has been eventful. last weekend was probably one of the craziest weekends i've had in singapore. celebrated josh's and vig's birthdays (could've had tini's too) over a single weekend. we had a little chalet thingy actually intended for tini, but oh well... in the end she kenna chicken pox. see tini... that's what happens when you pang seh your class hahaha so now you know what NOT to do ;) my common area became a mini gaming centre for the weekend. xbox, wii and mahjong hahaha josh and i managed to make it to the last section in guitar heroes co-op expert. don't think we'll be able to finish the whole thing... just too damn hard hahaha but oh well... at least we're both now at expert level =p so friday night josh, clar and many stayed over... sat morning gave clar a lift to school, and josh and i went to sheng siong to buy food for dinner. we left many sleeping at home hahaha

the steamboat on saturday night was the best part. there wasn't a single minute where we weren't laughing. and i mean it! just talking about all the crazy stuff we and the people around us did back in school, enough to make us laugh throughout dinner. we even heard kwee's perspective of some things, from mr ho to him hahaha it's cool that kwee still hangs out with us. technically we can call him alex already, but too used to calling him kweeeEEeeEE~~~!!! it's much nicer than say... alexxXXxx~~~??? yeah so we'll stick with kwee hahaha

played mahjong overnight on saturday till sunday 8am. taught chip how to play. many is still damn suay. and it was my best mahjong session ever hahaha then kwee and louis took bus home. vig had already KO-ed on my sofa long long ago hahaha after spending quite some time to figure out how to play guitar heroes =p somehow chip hardly had to sleep... less than 3 hours and she was wide awake already while i was still catching Z monsters on the sofa. many... don't need to say la. sleep sooooooooooooooooooooooo long... hahaha

at night before going to vig's party at spans, we made our way to chip's house first, to see her 42inch lcd tv!!! such a waste... hardly use it for anything. can be put to so much better use at my house hahaha oh well... luxuries of life. not always necessary... vig's party was more like a wedding. and we were so underdressed! guys all wearing shorts, a couple of us wearing slippers. quite paiseh. his family all dressed up so nicely hahaha the funny thing was that vig didn't even know some of the people there at his party!!! that's what happens when your sisters do the invitations for you hahaha the best part of the whole night was when the emcee, whom vig didn't know either, called him up before the cake cutting to say his "thank yous". as he squirmed his way past our table, he mumbled "help". we all burst out laughing hahaha and we knew exactly why he said help, but we just had to laugh.

all in all it was a fun filled weekend with lots of laughs and no regrets (for the people who were there at least) but for now i've got to study for my test tomorrow, and the exams coming in 2 weeks time. crap...

not enough time

i'm in the library now inbetween my maths tutorial and biz fin lecture. was hoping i'd be able to read my notes online but the service is down for some reason, and i'm not sure when it'll be up again but hopefully within the next hour, otherwise i'd have to strain my eyes on the small notes that i've printed out.

been playing and slacking way too much since the start of term 2. i should've gotten the xbox once i ord-ed man. now i'm so tempted to play but don't have the time to. or rather, i do have the time to but i just shouldn't be playing so much! hahaha how to finish gta4 like that man! even guitar heroes requires constant practice! hahaha got 2 exams in 4 weeks time. crap. maths i damn tough nowadays, because integration has never been my strongest suit. need to chase more tutorials. the only consolation i have is that business finance has some similarities to accounting. so there's some stuff i already know, so shouldn't be as cheem. the bad part about biz fin is that the mcq quiz in a couple of weeks will deduct marks for wrong answers!!! what the hell man... i hate this kind of situation. like if you think it's correct, but aren't entirely sure, then don't know whether should guess or not... yeah it just sucks...

first exam

it went... alright i guess. honestly there's nothing much to judge it against, simply because we didn't have alot of other papers to do. ok we had papers, but no answers to check them against. so all i could rely on were the tutorials. i'm just glad i memorised all those damned formulae and spent a few hours last night nailing down the cash flow statement. i just hope i got it right hahaha

tomorrow going to the pc fair. hopefully they're selling xbox there. wanted to buy for quite a while but the person my dad usually gets electronics from keeps saying that the suppliers have no stock. what crap man... otherwise i'd be playing guitar heroes or gta now instead of blogging hahaha xbox promotes antisocialism, but once in a while it's ok. especially when ur friends come over to play! like this friday!!! hahaha can't wait man... finally a gaming console 10 years after my last sega saturn =p no more sonic the hedgehog! hahaha

taking a short break from memorising accounting formulae right now. exam is in 2 days time, and i wouldn't say i'm prepared for it yet. not much things to practice on, just tutorials, which doesn't help. my first exam in a long while and i don't know what to expect honestly, and i'm scared. expect the worst, hope for the best.

unbelievable!

so after 3 days of waiting, i've gotten my phone back from samsung. and the problem still existed... so i thought that i'd have to go down comcentre and ask for a new phone. then the lady tried and put in another sim card into the phone. AND THE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON!!! hmmm... fishy fishy right? so i made my way down to comcentre in the end anyway, and the lady at the counter tried her sim card as well. so it turns out that the sim card i've got is "special". special in the way that it makes my phone light up continuously like chinatown during chinese new year. so i've got a new simcard now, which will be activated only after a day. so for all this... probably spent 15 bucks, from all that parking and petrol driving around. not to mention time!!! crazy man... i just hope the problem goes away and i don't have any more problems with this phone. then... maybe i'll get another samsung phone again hahaha being upset is tiring =p

and i've got a new motto for derek... smoke less eat more hahaha

i hope the rain stops soon too... otherwise josh and many will be having their wettest time ever on sentosa =p aiyah play vball in the rain lah! hahaha

not a good start

since i'm munching on my fruits now, i decided to blog before i start work on my maths again.

the start of school has been... highly jerky. according to my maths lecturer, when u differentiate speed u get acceleration, and what do you get when u differentiate acceleration? a jerk. or jolt. an instantaneous force hahaha something interesting to take home from maths class. in the past month, i've learnt in ONE page what F maths students at A lvls learn in 20. are we supposed to remember everything we learn or something? it's really quite demoralising knowing that you've learnt how to factorise stuff with that damn formula, but then you spend half an hour remembering it and remembering how to apply it. doing an hour of differentiation makes me tired now. half an hour of integration has about the same effect. curve sketching is really CURVE sketching. never seen such bizarre looking "curves" in my life hahaha

accounting, in my opinion is easier than econs in j1, but i'm supposed to be learning stuff at 3 chapters a lecture, it's going way too fast to remember everything. u give me 2 terms instead of a month and i'll be much much better off. i mean... my exam is next wednesday!!! how freaking fast is that?!?! thank goodness i don't have to take any maths exams at the end of this term, otherwise i'd be thoroughly screwed. i don't want to think about what it'll be like at the end of next term when biz finance comes into the picture. really will be hell.

the start of school really hasn't been a good one.

i got a new phone on sunday! the new samsung soul. it's really quite a nice phone, both to use and to look at. colours are really nice, and the touchpad is easy to use! unlike some other phones with touch sensitive panels that i've tried before. 5mp camera with antishake, althought i think it's not really antishake... just an image stabiliser, cos there's about a half a second lag time hahaha bang and olufsen speakers which make the sound coming out sound good too! but the only problem is... the screen lights up every 30 seconds when the damn phone is close!!! sucks the juice out of my battery. damn bloody irritating, so tomorrow i'm going to go to the service centre to get it looked at. hopefully they give me a new phone. they should! i only got this phone on sunday!!! ggrrr...

haiz... oh well. finished my fruits and a game of freecell already. wendy's exams are over, although i'm not exactly sure how well she'll do because she was really distracted during this exam period. but she's got a packed schedule of mahjong planned ahead. have to get used to seeing her alot less again. just like BMT. just that this time around, i'll have to study on weekends too. calculus here i come!

yesterday night i rushed home after my accounting test to get many's cake and present, then i chiong-ed down to raffles city. thanks goodness there was space to park so i didn't have to queue hahaha anyway we went to curry favour at stamford house. nice short walk from RC. it's a nice cosy place, and the curry isn't hot at all hahaha guess japanese prefer wasabi to spicy curry. they just like the taste i guess. it wasn't all that bad. she liked the cake i bought!!! hahaha white chocolate macadamia from secret recipe =) luckily i decided to buy the half recipe one instead of the full recipe one. couldn't really finish the half recipe one hahaha

after that we made our way to paulaner brauhaus at millenia walk. first time there. managed to get a nice table right in the corner for all 9 of us? oh wait... 11 hahaha and of course the best part was, some other guy was celebrating his birthday there too! so we sabo-ed many to go up to the stage and sing with him!!! hahaha it was quite hilarious... trying to yell her name to them. mandy, mary... i had to spell it out for them before they got it =p then we just started taking really spastic photos of each other. mr kwee has a really unique talent of taking people with funny faces.

after that louis, tini, vig, kwee and the birthday girl came over to my place for mahjong. vig can play man... just needs some help now and then. the combined powers of me and tini managed to win money in the 1st round hahaha played until 5 this morning, at which vig and many had both fallen asleep =p

have a maths test on thursday... need to mug more. going to eat my fruits now, maybe i'll study tmr hahaha

sorry for not blogging since my birthday. been a mixture of both lazy and busy hahaha and koon i do read your blog... just don't tag that's all hahaha =)

i'm a month into school already, and it's hard to get back into the rhythm of everything. sitting down and studying is still difficult. although i have to say it's much more so for accounting than maths. reading so many words and trying to absorb them all is definitely more difficult than just looking at formulae and numbers hahaha i'm lucky that there's no maths exam at end of this term, because accounting is going at an insane pace. i mean i'm covering the WHOLE textbook in 5 weeks!!! damn freaking crazy...

the atmosphere in ntu is... right now rather conducive to study. but can't say for when the main term starts when there'll be people everywhere. the new canteen is nice! just that it's always full at lunch time, because it's much nicer than the canteen in the south spine hahaha and of course it's air-conditioned, and the food is still rather cheap! that's on the upper flood. downstairs there's macs, subway, canadian pizza and old chang kee all at reduced prices!!!!!!! cheap fast foooooodddd hahaha i'm always trying to eat upstairs of course, but sometimes you just gotta eat and there's no other choice.

got my accounting presentation today. really fast if u ask me hahaha 4th week of school and i've got a presentation already. i'm just telling myself that everyone else in class has to do it, and whether i'm right or wrong it's all just part of the learning experience. i just hope i'm not too embarassingly wrong hahaha have to wear formal today, and the problem is i've got maths tut at 930, and my presentation is only at 4!!! just hope i don't sweat too much inbetween hahaha well at least the seminar room we use is always freaking cold!

wendy's moved house!!! thank goodness! at least now she's got her own room and can sleep and study when she has to! and it's a nice place! 2nd floor, and it's rather breezy too! right next to the fitness park, with 7-11 and convenient stores nearby! really really good find =)

i just ate 3 siew mais! haven't eaten those for a long time hahaha but after eating need to go toilet =X my stomach only waking up now hahaha

a blast for a weekend!

so now i'm 21 years old... had a really interesting and fun filled weekend to celebrate it too! friday afternoon went out for lunch at billy bombers at the cathay with wendy and her parents, then we went to the singapore flyer!!! never thought i'd actually go up that thing for free, but wendy's dad had free tickets, so why not? hahaha got a nice view of the singapore skyline, and you can really see malaysia and indonesia from up there! anyway... the coolest part about the whole thing to me is that you can actually see the mess that's going on at the IR site, and marina south. you can really see above the mess and towering cranes, and look down at the ecp and the cars on it hahaha i'm trying to imagine what the IR will look like when it's completed from up there, with all the lights and colours, it should be really nice =) oh and the floating platform used for NDP last year, is now a SOCCER FIELD!!! when i first saw it i thought i was seeing things hahaha wonder what'll happen if the water gets a bit choppy and the winds pick up. sea sick soccer players? =p

at night i went to carnivore at vivocity with my dad and wendy. my mum was overseas on work. if only i didn't have so much lunch to eat, i could've eaten alot more. it was like heaven man! meat coming at you from all directions, and the greens were totally out of the picture hahaha but somehow towards the end the quality of the food went down a little bit. luckily i was already full by then hahaha chicken, pork, beef, mutton, fish... meat meat meat! ultra high protein diet hahaha ok lah i did get SOME carbo in the form of bread, which also came around on skewers. the only thing i didn't try was the chicken heart. and it wasn't clearing too quickly either since the poor guy was walking round and round the restaurant and it hardly got taken.

saturday was probably my best saturday man hahaha granted it was tiring cos i had to wake up really early to pick my mum up from the airport. got back home just before 7. after lunch wendy and i went to watch street kings. it was an alright movie... somehow i still see keanu reeves in his matrix role. and in this movie he's packing lots of guns again hahaha the last standing gun fighter. sounds so much like the old west... but it looked rather cool either way. after that we walked around PS for a while cos wendy wanted to buy some stuff. then we went to her home because she wanted to get some stuff too... then my mum sent me a funny message saying "can you stall him. we're not ready yet" then some bells in my head started to ring hahaha SOMETHING WAS GOING ON AT MY HOUSE! then my mum called me to ask me to buy some hairspray! hmmm... that part was alright but somehow i heard some maniacal female laughter in the background, which obviously didn't sound like the tv or radio or any other person in my house. plus it didn't help when my mum was talking to me and wendy suddenly ran down the stairs, opened the car door and took the phone away from me hahaha ok lah it was my classmates trying to surprise me. it worked quite well... up till the point where everyone started panicking because i was going to be home too soon and not everyone was there yet hahaha got home to see a nice nija turtle performance, nicer cake, and a crazy wassup... 5t19 wassup hahaha first one in don't know how long. got it all on video too... and of course a wassup isn't complete until derek has one too, so after they got me, they got derek! hahaha

derek u better watch out man... your birthday is next. don't know how many you're going to get =p just imagine... u're turning 21!!! hahaha

they ordered a hell lot of pizza, some of which is still in my fridge, and got me a damn nice billabong leather wallet. it was a good thing josh works with my mum and they know wendy so it's really quite easy to get info about me and get accomplices hahaha all in all, thanks to josh, derek, koon, louis, vig, mr kwee, clar, many, tini, chip, shufang and cheryl. of the whole group i hadn't seen cheryl for the longest. she's been disappearing for quite a while hahaha and cheryl drove a FORD here... if u'll remember what i wrote about fords earlier, maybe you'll know how absolutely sorry i feel for her hahaha i love t19... never fail to brighten up the darkest, gloomiest (warning... word might not exist in dictionary), most pathetic of days =) thanks to you all so so much!!! my first surprise birthday party ever! hahaha

on sunday my parents helped me organise a family gathering... a rather LARGE family gathering. grandparents, uncles, aunties, cousins, parents cousins, the whole mix. it was really quite intimidating hahaha but at least that's all over and done with. got alot of hong baos. much much more than i expected i'd get. going to the bank i was damn scared someone would try to rob me or something hahaha in the evening i went over to josh's place to pass him something, and of course no point going to his house without playing his xbox right? hahaha devil may cry 4 is damn cool! but somehow... god of war is still the coolest! hahaha the combos on dmc4 aren't as spectacular as gow... graphics their about the same, but must remember that gow was on the ps2 platform. and it already really ahead of it's time.

my sister sent me an icecream cake from swensens too! big oreo cake hahaha thanks sis =)

it's edging closer...

it's almost april!!! my gosh so fast... almost 2 months since i ord-ed. well all i can say is thank goodness i wasn't in the PTP batch, otherwise i'd still be in the army now hahaha more or less packed up my army stuff in my cupboard already. just got a bit left to do, like kiwi my 2 pairs of mouldy boots =p i've finally redone the wiring around my table, so it's much neater now and the power points are on top finally. one thing i've realised is that now i take much more effort in keeping my room clean and tidy hahaha or at least my table lah. this is the first time in my nearly 21 years of existence that i've actually tidied up my table and cupboard without my mum nagging at me for like a week or something hahaha something good that came out of army i guess.

t19 will be going to hongkong on july. helped them book the tickets already. fewer people are going this time, and only about half of those who went to phuket can go. i can't go, because the period that they've chosen to go away is during my special term 2 exams. oh well... there's always a next time i guess =) i just hope the guys bring enough entertainment hahaha because the girls are going to shop shop shop.

alot of big parties this month hahaha wendy's party, bang's party, my family party at home and my lunch/dinner with t19. dunno where we're going... josh organising for me hahaha even if he didn't organise i would've heehee t19 is like my 2nd family now =p

i've slowly been exercising more these days. swimming with wendy, running around my neighbourhood, badminton on sundays and sometimes on fridays too. but somehow it's still not enough hahaha just can't burn as much energy and sweat as much as i did last time.

one random thing i've noticed is that, with oil prices going up which somehow causes a chain reaction and everything else increasing in price, one thing that isn't following the trend if electronic stuff! owning a laptop now is much easier than it was a couple of years ago. storage devices are getting unbelievably cheap, but of course new technology like ps3 won't be cheap. just wait for ps4 hahaha look at ps2 now... i'm surprised they're still selling them though =p

long time no beach

i finally went to sentosa yesterday, after such a long hiatus from that place. not a very big outing. just me, josh and louis at first. while we were on the way there josh called tini, and not very surprisingly, our phone call woke her up hahaha so it was just the 3 of us at first. parked at the beach carpark, then decided that we wanted to go to tanjong beach. so... we used our "kahs", a.k.a. legs. trotted our way down to tanjong beach where many and her team of friends were taking part in some beach fiesta competition. they got thrashed quite badly in captain's ball. guess that's what happens when u don't have training together. but they put up a good fight! =)

good thing for us we managed to find some shady spots along the beach which were suitable for volleyball, so we didn't get into the sun as much. but in the end we still got burnt, of course. never a time when i've been to the beach and not been burnt. and we did something quite innovative in the showers. since the toilet was damn crowded, as usual, we found ourselves 2 toilet cubicles and put our bags there and took turns to change. so people were still queuing up while we were happily bathing and changing already hahaha

after sentosa we went to paradiz centre in the hopes of buying some class board games so we don't always have to go out and pay for food and games. in the end... we went to the wrong place, and since it was raining and we liked how dry we were, we decided to go to josh's house to play other games hahaha entertainment centre cum food storage =p never go hungry or bored over there man hahaha

managed to go for a run today. was worried that my burnt shoulders would give me some problems with the singlet, but it was alright. no construction today so i ran 4 clicks. slow start to my exercise programme. still have to paint the fence this week. will have to wear a sleeved shirt to paint it though, otherwise i'll be in lots of pain. but doing that fence is really time consuming man... and don't have many hours of daylight in singapore where the sun isn't blazing hot.

anyway man u whooped liverpool tonight. chelsea is winning so far... hopefully they in instead of arsenal hahaha i rarely wish chelsea to win =p raikkonen won with hamilton further down. alonso not making much impact back at renault so far this season. jealousy between teammates is quite a big issue in F1... surprisingly bmw aren't doing too bad! good thing there weren't as many dropouts from today's race. took them a race to get use to the lack of traction control now. but massa really wasted his chance to come in 2nd, which would've effectively given ferrari the lead in the constructors pts. what a waste of his 2nd pole out of 2 so far.

28 months and counting. tough times are ahead... they were never that easy... but there are always easier and tougher times. perseverance is key, absence makes the heart grow fonder...

i really love driving at night. no rush... so peaceful... until the traffic lights kick in. on the expressways are the best hahaha at night i'm less likely to speed i think, because it's just nice to drive slowly at night somehow. i just love driving lah hahaha

on the way back from sending wendy home tonight, i thought i saw a mini cooper/s with a funny sign on it's boot. you know they usually have a cooper/s on the right hand side of their boot? well i thought i saw it as OOP/S hahaha maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me but i checked and double checked, and it appeared to me as OOP/S. and i wasn't going fast... maybe 60? but it was interesting enough for me to keep my eye off the road for a second hahaha

and MY PANTS ARE OFFICIALLY GETTING TOO TIGHT FOR ME!!! but i guess i had it coming. i had those pants since before the times in CJ, when everyone was on an exercise high and got into what was probably the fittest stage of their lives. and now after ord i'm just eating lots and lots of food. not that i'm not exercising, but it's the least amount of exercise i've done since before JC hahaha which was more than 5 years ago. thus... my pants are getting too tight for me =p either i change my entire pants wardrobe soon, or maintain my current weight but lose the belly. one is costly, the other one is time consuming... oh well... money's a bit tight now since i'm living off savings, so exercising is the more realistic option obviously =p

SO! tomorrow i'm going swimming with wendy in the morning, then i'm going to play badminton in the evening with her and her good-est friend at jurong east. i might go running at night, see how i feel. as i was JUST sharing with many, running in my area is quite bad in the morning and evenings, which are the usual best times to run. the rush hour traffic and construction combined together will just torture your lungs and make it damn difficult for you to run. so my best option is running at night. but that screws up my dinner timing... so i'm kind of in a bit of a dilemma right now.

and i don't understand why people don't reply their emails. mass messaging with handphones is just too expensive, and got alot of information to share, so sending out emails is the best alternative. but some people just don't want to reply!!! you log on to msn so you definitely know you've got email. and if i'm your contact on msn, means it definitely won't go to the junk mail folder, so you definitely see it! but just can't be bothered to msg or email your answer... bloody irritating!!! ggrrr... hopefully the mid year holiday pulls through. it would be nice to go overseas with t19 again. but then again girls going crazy shopping during a sale, not a very good prospective for the guys hahaha and we're now 5t19... damn we're old!

i must say so far the time i've spent since ORD sfter cny and nz has been going by rather peacefully. reason being, after i went for my first run in ages after coming back from nz i got a bloody sore throat. since then i've avoided running past the construction sites along my usual running route. the problem with running on roads is that sooner or later you'll need a mask to keep breathing properly. that was more than a week ago, and keeping in mind the endless rain over this past week, i finally went running again after the sun finally shone through the clouds high up there. honestly i didn't really feel much tightness in my legs as i thought i would, instead i felt much inertia coming from my belly hahaha all the eating and eating has indeed taken it's toll. even though i've finally gone over 70kg again (haven't done that since i enlisted), it's just more than my body is used to =p

on monday i made my way down to NTU to give them my tuition grant form. all i can say is that i'm damn damn damn glad i managed to borrow my mum's car that day, because whatever i wanted to do, was done in less than 5 minutes. taking public transport there would've just drove my crazy hahaha luckily clar was free to bring me around the school, since she claimed that the maps provided always suck hahaha so i didn't spend time and petrol going round and round the school. will have to go back again around my birthday for the medical. can't believe go uni also need medical...

now i've got 3 puzzles hanging on my wall hahaha the first one that started it all from australia, and a couple of small transformers ones that look just really damn cool hahaha wendy's got all the big ones hahaha we just sent a 2000 piece one to the frame shop. she wants to do a 4000 piece one, but i'm seriously thinking whether her room has space to put it =p and there really is a very very limited range of puzzles here. maybe need to go to more shops to see more.

i just hope this nagging sore throat goes away very very soon... irritating crap!

i'm still in new zealand now. driven over 3000km so far... and somemore to come. killed countless number of bugs with my car windscreen. got a seriously shitty car called a ford mondeo. note to self... don't ever buy a ford. turning radius damn bloody wide. no power to move. 4 freaking gear car... cannot climb mountain and can hardly go above 130kph... basically it just crawls... the only good thing is the steering is rather responsive. but the car still sucks! don't buy fords!!!

that said... the roads here are really good for a car to run. quite smooth... some really straight parts, but some parts are really windy. up the mountain, drive up into the clouds. surrounded by mountains, trees, goats, sheep, cows... whatever farm animals u can think of lah. killed a hell lot of bugs as i was speeding down the highways hahaha stupid ass car didn't allow me to go too fast

so far i've seen glowworms, kiwis which are rare coz only at night and they're really secretive animals. uhhh... alot alot ALOT of beautiful scenery... and the cool stuff was the 2 huge glaciers that is basically 2 huge valleys between 2 huge mountains being filled with ice!!! and i went tandem paragliding! it was cool... running off a cliff hahaha kinda crazy. all the guy said was "1, 2, 3, run run run!" so i ran... and off the cliff i went. it was an expensive experience but it was definitely memorable. didn't do the bungy and parachuting... but i'll wanna do that with people other than my parents lah. do with people who can do with you is more enjoyable hahaha but next time i'll definitely come back to new zealand again. it really does look quite heavenly at times. but must remember to come in the summer again. coming in winter will be quite shitty. gotta pack more clothes too, so summer is the best hahaha

the food's been good too. gst here is 12%. so 7% in singapore doesn't seem so bad again. but then again singapore has compulsory 10% service charge, so in the end it's higher WAHAHAHA i'm talking in circles. a bit siao liao. standard of living here is alright. can get a really good solid juicy steak with all the extras for under NZ$30. it's really alot more reasonable than back in singapore. ice cream is nice too! hahaha since all the milk is damn fresh. and driving on the roads is really quite good too. because people actually GIVE WAY TO YOU! not like singaporeans who will do anything to get ahead of you.

it's just an entirely different experience driving in the open road... got so much space to run, but also must look out for cops lah. oh well... will blog again when i'm back home =)

i've finally gotten my hands on my IC yet again. can't stand the picture on it, but it's still wonderful nonetheless. i even got a watch from the brigade, which looks good, but i'm guessing that once you drop it or hit it against something, it'll probably spoil. so i'm just going to keep the watch in the box. the box is KIND OF personalised too i guess. i got my testimonial exactly the way i typed it hahaha and i'm quite surprised that i got a better grade in SI than in sispec. honestly i felt more on the ball in sispec, but oh well. it's all over now. at least i'm done and dusted with that part of life. now in HQ Armour reserve for the next 6 months until i get my next posting. really wonder where i'll go man...

this is going to be a really really busy chinese new year for me. definitely the busiest i've ever had. not a bad way to start a new part of my life hahaha. today the celebrations sort of started already. had lunch with wendy's family. tonight got reunion dinner with my dad's side of the family. tomorrow morning onwards there are going to be relatives visiting, then there'll be the huge huge lunch. after lunch will go visiting until about dinner time. then at night will be watching an 1130 movie with wendy, her mum, and some of her friends. latest time i've been out on a cny hahaha tuesday morning more visiting, till afternoon. hopefully not everning. night time bang, rao and wendy will be coming over for a meal, then we'll all be adjourning to bang's house for mahjong. saturday is t19 visiting day hahaha going to start with shufang's house, then mine, many's, koons, josh's, and finally derek's. whole day will be gone already. at first was wondering how we were going to do lunch and dinner, then we realised that we'd probably be eating at every single house we go to, so there wouldn't be a need to worry at all it seems. now just waiting to see how early we can all gather at shufang's house. she's kind of slow in getting back to me... slow yet again hahaha sunday morning church, afternoon going to wendy's friends places, then back to her house again, then out to even more of her friends houses. then at night RAO IS FLYING AWAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! so damn fast lah! people ORD today, then sunday flying overseas for study already. i'm sure rao will have fun over there hahaha

now that i've finally ORD-ed, can look through all my plans before i start school in may again. let's see... fix my bike and start cycling again, learn to rollerblade, start playing piano again, pack up all my army stuff and keep it nicely in the cupboard, do some maths revision (as advised by neo jr), and finally get back into the rhythm of running regularly again. haven't been running regularly since way before ex wallaby, which was LAST NOVEMBER!!! and the belly is starting to show thorugh the shirts man. damn gross. and this cny won't improve the situation one bit! oh and i wanna play more badminton too! i still love the game, even though i'm not wonderful at it, but it's a game i can play for quite long heehee *hint hint to wendy & many* and one day i wanna go check out the ntu hall. dropped clar off before once, but still haven't been in to see what it's like. seen many's one already, single room, which is nice and cosy, so it's really no problem. just wondering what double room will be like, like how much space each person will have at the end of the day.

the hours and minutes are inching closer and closer to cny... and the closer it gets, the more excited i get. finally will get my hands on my IC already. even though i can't stand the photo on it, but who cares, it's a symbol of civilian-ship =p and i can finally change my handphone!!! no more nokia 8250 with it's blue screen and screwed up battery life. i can finally use a camera phone again without having to worry about being charged and sent to DB =X

oh and tomorrow i'm finally removing my stitches. giving me some problems man... holding my mouth back hahaha

february is here!!!

haven't blogged for a month i realised. have just been lazy i guess. much has happened over the past month. so just some highlights... taken out all 4 of my wisdom teeth. the left side is a much tougher customer than the right side i must say. the hole is much bigger and it's giving me much more problems too. mainly with food being stuck hahaha and somehow there are 2 stitches here as compared to just 1 on the right side. but overall it isn't that bad an experience as some have described. just have to deal with blood in your mouth every morning when u wake up and some times in the day tt's all. but it's definitely survivable hahaha just hope when they remove the stitches last tuesday i don't die =p

concerning my 2nd removal of wisdom teeth, it just got really complicated because i was supposed to have them removed in camp, but those buggers cancelled on me at the last minute. so i got a referral to alexandra hospital. luckily it's near my house, but the earliest appointment i got initially was actually today!!! and that really just ruined my day totally. so i just accepted it and went off, intending to call again on monday. so that's what i did! i called but unfortunately the nurse there said that there weren't any last minute cancellations, so i hung up and was going to try again the next day, but then an hour later, the same nurse called me back and said that she managed to push away an appointment on tuesday, so i could pluck my teeth on tuesday!!! wah i was really damn happy. 1st of all, the fact that she actually bothered to call me back and ask the doctor whether they could change another appointment for me! simply because i told them i was going to ORD this coming week and i had to have it done soon. damn nice right! alexandra hospital rocks! hahaha i just hope they don't torture me when they remove the stitches, cos i wasn't fully numb before they pulled out my 2nd set of wisdom teeth =p so that was really an intense 10 minutes hahaha

this year's going to be the year of 21st birthdays. i guess everyone goes through this in the year that they turn 21, cos all their friends turn 21 too hahaha so yeah it's going to be a year of big celebrations and parties, and hopefully lots of nice gifts too hahaha

i've decided to enrol into uni early. just to get more time to settle back in the whole cycle of studying and life in school, where chiong sua-ing isn't mandatory, the physical aspect of it at least hahaha

the after new year...

new year's day came and went by very quickly indeed. just realised that this is my first post of the year 2008 hahaha and this year is a day longer... olympics will be held in beijing, and i'll ORD! but it's also the year i'll start school and turn 21... oh well...

for the first time in my entire life, on new year's eve i went to the city area to watch tie fireworks. the past 19 years of my life i've been at home, watching the fireworks on tv on and off, and basically spending the new year by myself. last year i couldn't go simply because my parents wouldn't let me go, but this year they actually let me go! really felt very happy, and made wendy's longtime wish come true too, so that just made me doubly happy =)

the next night i booked in for 2008. planned my off and leave, signed about 3/4 of my clearance form, and i'm sadly also beginning to find out that my company won't be letting go of me so easily. somehow they're dragging us "lao jiaos" into alot more shit. alot more shit than we did at the same time last year. the only thing i can deduce is that the new specs don't have much control over the guys yet, so they just wanna use us to the very end. those evil buggers... well at least i had off last friday, and one more next monday. but after that i'll be in camp for a while more. might even have to spend next saturday at the range! if that's true, it'll really be a FUBAR situation. if you wanna know what FUBAR is please enquire personally. by the end of the month, all my 4 wisdom teeth would've been removed, which basically just allows me to stay out of camp more hahaha but since the SAF is paying for it, might as well get it done right... a thousand bucks per tooth. making up for how underpaid we are hahaha

tonight was movie night! spent the latter half of the afternoon and the night watching movies at josh's house. watched 3 pretty recent movies, and played some xbox hahaha but his mum is really damn nice. and super observant too. guess she would have to be since she's got so many kids running around all the time hahaha but it's a small and cosy home. kind squashy at times i guess, but they've all adjusted to it =)
