3 weeks in... 6 more to go...

shaun's words "when u enter army you are a boy, after field camp you become garang boy, after throwing grenade you become man, after POP you become garang man" hahaha damn funny shit man... but somehow it does make some sense. this week was damn tiring towards the end. 2 consecutive days of whole day and night spent at range meant that i got a total of 7 hours of sleep in 2 nights. got 22/32 for range. damn pathetic man. my snap targets suck... only got 9 out of 16 =( night firing got 13 lah. so maybe because night time can OTOT, so can slowly aim hahaha not much to blog about actually. except that i'll be having field camp this week, starting from tuesday till following monday, then can only book out on thursday night. WTH MAN!!! have to spend 3 days in camp with only 1 no. 4 uniform. so f-ed up. can't even come home after field camp sia... just hope i don't get injured. i've been lucky so far... only tore my skin off my hand from swing trainer, so i hope my legs hold up in field camp. so won't be blogging next weekend... 2nd confinement hahaha

2 weeks in... 7 more to go...

this week has been an interesting one. passed my m16 handling test. pretty straight forward for me lah. the most stressful section had to be the loading of the rounds into the magazine, coz i was right in front of sgt alan, who was having... a vulgar day. but i did it on the 1st try, and quickly unloaded the magazine and got the hell out of there hahaha had 2 AGR sessions. basically you run for a certain amount of time at a certain pace. both times ran for 15 minutes. next one will be twenty minutes if i'm not wrong. but i always feel good after the run. but sadly not much time to rest lah. if i could rest, i bet i'd feel alot better. had 2 route marches. 4 click and 6 click. 4 click was with sbo and rifle, 6 click with everything lah. 10 kg more to my weight. wasn't THAT horrible lah. still wearing vest and slacks though. next route march will be 8 km, to field camp. that will be in full gear already lah. field camp from 2 to 8 march. won't get to enjoy the election holiday man! sianz... hahaha completed all the imt sessions today. shooting is fun man. but proning isn't. elbows hurt like mad. but i have to say at least it's stable. standing shoulder sucks man... damn hard to keep the gun stable. but it's still like playing a computer game hahaha passed that one too. range should be on wednesday or thursday. can foresee that it will take up a whole day or something. coz it's such a tedious process. of course the experience will be different. louder sounds, stronger recoil, and the dust flying in your eyes. in the imt u're in aircon, and you still sweat. imagine how much i'll sweat at the range man!!! hahaha

i miss spending time with wendy. really wish i could spend more time with her. and my mum very cleverly commented in the car just now... "can you don't go out on saturday so that you can rest?" then i just replied, "then when else can i go out?!?!?!" so much for thinking before speaking... booking in at 7.30 tonight. see the rest of you people (mainly girls) next weekend.

bang: yah lah give me your tshirts or something man! then don't have to buy anymore!!! hahaha

derek: yeah handling the m16 is easy lah. and even though we have newspapers, i don't have much time to read it, so not much difference lah. the only really useful thing for the newspapers is to clean the windows and kiwi our boots on hahaha

yuehong: yeah you too man! take care of that knee of yours...

tini: it's not that i never meet you up! it's that you're so busy until wanna meet up with you also cannot!

ron: shut up and study for your a levels lah... it's tougher than NS... seriously...

"you are now a soldier!!!"

that's a direct quote from my platoon sergeant and commanders. it's been ok so far, about the same as an np camp. our longest drill session was what? half an hour? sure the parade square was hot and we marched around a few times, but i've had 3 hour drill sessions before, so it's ok. moving quick from point to point, used to that as well. sometimes wanna run also cannot run, coz other people just block the corridor entirely by walking. the drills definitely no problem. the shouting yes sir no sir, even more no problem hahaha although being an officer to a recruit is of course a big difference. but this time, the only difference is, now i'm a recruit with a brain. in sec 1, you were a blur cock hahaha the only thing i gotta get used to is the uniform and the rifle lah. rifle drills i'm ok with it. now drills on the rifle i'm pretty ok too. of course can't strip and assemble that quickly, but at least i can do it in under 60 seconds, which is good enough to pass. the uniform gotta practice more on the sleeves lah. folding smart 4 isn't that easy to me hahaha but it's getting better. at least now it's MOST of the time 4 fingers from the apulet.

as of now i'm the newspaper IC. damn damn DAMN slack hahaha just collect newspaper from the company office and distribute to the sections hahaha when i heard it i was like "oh ok!" then went to collect the newspapers hahaha couldn't be any easier.

so now i'm botak. ok lah it's grown back a bit. but the days are going along quite quickly. gotta book in tomorrow night. but gotta buy alot of stuff tomorrow 1st. then one more week, then book out again next weekend. the atmosphere in the bus to the ferry terminal will be so different from the one away from the terminal hahaha

and today i forgot to bring back my bath towel to wash. damn it! had just 5 minutes to pack bags. rush like mad. damn pissed with myself about that. so big yet can don't see it... damn sian. tonight book out number 1. tomorrow book in number 1. shall blog again next weekend. take care world! =)

spiderman society...

been thinking about blogging about this topic for a couple of weeks already, but never really got down to it, and what better time to do it than the night before i enlist eh? hahaha

so i was watching spiderman 2 on hbo or star movies a couple of weeks back, and the community that spidey fought in, somehow reminded me of how in singapore, we're all just bystanders. when something is wrong, and we clearly see it with our own 2 eyes, we don't necessarily react to it. and why? because it would be too much of an inconvenience to us, and maybe even because, it's none of our business. there have been increasing reports lately of robberies taking place in broad daylight, and not a member of the public nearby even bothering to give chase to the robbers. people drowning, and onlookers refusing to lend a hand. and why? because it would be too much of an inconvenience for us, as we scurry around trying to meet deadlines. we have somehow evolved into a society where, some of us feel, that the person beside us doesn't depend on us. we live independant of each other. i say shame on you! i mean a person is drowning! how would you feel if you were the one whose life was slipping away from your grasps, and the people around you who could've helped did nothing?

you are a singaporean, and even though the other person might not be singaporean, what is happening NOW in front of YOU, is happening on singapore soil. it is happening in YOUR community. you cannot live independant of it! also like in spiderman. parker let the guy that robbed the wrestling place go, and what happened? his grandfather got killed! yes you might say it only happens in movies, but there are always more subtle ripple effects that travel around in the real world. so i say... offer a helping hand when you can. you might not get the opportunity every day, but that's only because they're the less obvious chances. help a colleague out at the office. help your elderly neighbour carry heavy stuff. give up your seat on the bus for an elderly person. just HELP! you cannot live on your own. what goes around comes around man.

anyway i'm off to bathe and sleep. tomorrow it's off to tekong for me! life is about to change. may god have mercy on me.

Fisher - The Lovely Years

Those were the days
when we had childish dreams
We'd run through the house
chasing our cares away

Turn on the sprinklers
we'd roll in the evening grass
laughing until we cried

And I loved the lovely years
No worries - no fears
Oh what a great life

This is the best time
- holding our child all day
He gives me a smile
and mends every tear in me

And I love the lovely years
First words and steps are here
Oh what a great life

And when we're old
we'll sit and repeat ourselves
telling our favorite stories

And we'll love the lovely years
Remembering all the years
of such a great life

And we'll love the lovely days
They'll never fade away
Just look in my eyes
this is such a beautiful song. if you have it, please let me know. thanks =)

4 days to my birthday... 1 day to NS...

can't believe my birthday is SO CLOSE to my enlistment date. oh well... my bag's packed, except for hangars and slippers, everything else is already in the bag. all set to go... kinda. life is going to be VERY different from now on. i know that i'll be a different person after 2 years in ns, better or worst? i'm not sure. but i just now i'll be different. i'd probably see the world in a different light, and behave differently around people as well, but that all remains to be seen i guess.

had a last dinner with my mum and dad tonight. tomorrow going to have dinner with my dear wendy, then saturday lunch with my mum and dad again, and goodbye world hahaha

chalet was a blast! had a hell lot of fun. wish it could've been at least a day longer, coz both afternoons we were there it was raining =( which meant that we were stuck in the damn chalet slacking around. but it's a damn good bargain. 2 bedrooms with 6 beds altogether, a fully equipped kitchen and a hell big living room hahaha bigger than most HDB flats, for only 35 bucks a night! of course that's if you have the discount lah, otherwise it'd cost as much as costa sands, but still alot bigger and spacious.

had our last badminton game yesterday as well. that was like the best i've ever played over all our sessions hahaha something got into me lah. but it was really fun. took some pictures at the end of it. just the 5 of us. chris, louis, pradeep, ben and me. 4 out of 5 guys that started the whole thing. and so it ends. hopefully we'll be able to play on some sundays or saturdays, depending on how much energy we have left after the week's training i guess...

anyway shall go to sleep now. must sleep more these 2 nights hahaha whilst i still have some hair...

pissed and disappointed!!!

after all the deadlines i've met for you over the past 7 years... 7 BLOODY YEARS!!! the ONE deadline i requested you to help me meet, and you COULDN'T DO IT!!! I ASKED YOU ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE! and you tell me the night before the deadline THROUGH EMAIL that you couldn't find something THAT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR BLOODY FACE! this is not a matter of whether it will affect my entry, but this is a matter of helping me after all the time i've taken out of my weekdays and particularly weekends, of my preparation for my exams, of my time preparing for competitions and time with family and friends, to help YOU run something that you would've DIED without me and my colleagues around. over 500 hours spent helping you, and this one time, when i asked u to help me do something that someone else who knew me for only 2 years helped me do in less than 20 minutes! WHAT DID THE BLOODY 7 YEARS SPENT GROWING UP WITH YOU COUNT FOR? YOU PROBABLY COULD'VE DONE IT IN HALF THE BLOODY TIME! i'm utterly pissed and disappointed with you, someone whom i've had so much respect for in the past, that you couldn't even help me this ONCE. obviously you easily forget that those that have helped you through the years...
