1.5 weeks to POP!!!

another hectic week has passed in bmtc. and it all seems to be so fast. much faster than time spent in school really. mainly because one doesn't spend as much time sitting down and stoning. one tends to do alot more running and pushing and shouting. what a way to spend life.

week began with SIT test and 12 click route march. the route marches are getting easier, and the field pack suddenly doesn't feel as heavy as when we first began. got the appointment of claymore for sit test. one of the more slack ones, mainly because got nothing much to do lah, except help the demo men carry their packs. all i can say about my performance at SIT test is, even if i do make it do OCS, it wouldn't be because of my performance at SIT test. basically it was a disappointing one. either i've lost touch, or i've simply slacked off. if i do somehow make it to OCS, it would be because of my performance in camp throughout the entire bmt period. i think my SIT test was kinda screwed up lah. i did contribute my ideas, but i wasn't exactly that vocal. oh well... what's done is done. if i get to sispec i'll get to sispec, if i get to ocs i'll get to ocs. i'll just put in my effort wherever i go.

the night we got back, had lots of peer appraisals to do. had to rank alot of people, and it's difficult to rank them accordingly when you know them for less than 2 months, most of which you don't converse frequently with. you simply have to base your judgements on particular incidents that stick to your memory more clearly. i tried to be as honest as i could be lah, but it simply wasn't easy.

the last day of SIT test was also our 6th month anniversary. was hoping to be able to talk to her, but both times i could call her she was busy, so even though i really wanted to talk to her, i just let it be and left her to do her own things. went to bed feeling very confused that night. couldn't sleep for a while. but seeing how shagged out i was, i eventually did manage to fall asleep.

thursday was a mad day! morning had AGR. really put in my effort for this one and managed to keep up with the group this time around. 2.4 under 11 minutes here i come!!! hahaha after that had bcct lessons 7. basically fighting with rifle. under the blazing 2pm afternoon sun in the parade square. no joke man. after that was supposed to have speed training, but the skies opened right at the end of our warmup, and ended up doing drills for the rest of the day. altogether about 2.5 hours of drills? yeah... end of thursday.

friday morning... more drills. 3 hours of it. missed out on bcct and strength training, but doing drills under the sun for that period of time does take it's toll on your body as well. after that, did an express interest survey, then off for 16 clicks we went. left coy line around 4.15, got back at 8.40. with our uniform looking as wet as when we first washed it. can hardly imagine how wet we'd be after 24 clicks man hahaha probably be dripping water from our sleeves.

this morning... BAC. walked a little more there, went absolutely nuts for a while, shouting our way through the short course, and then we were back at camp. it was really fast indeed hahaha a really strenous week indeed

next week's highlights: SOC full run down, 24 click route march and drill competition. another time to fight, another time to be tired...

17 more days to POP!!!!

only 2.5 weeks more. and they have to kill us within these 2.5 weeks. past week was a real killer. 5 bcct lessons. 4 soc lessons. 1 ippt. a couple of strength trainings and 1 speed training. next week. SIT test (inclusive of 12 click route march), 1 AGR, 1 speed training, 1 strength training, 16 click route march. chiong already man... even more tiring than field camp. but at least that guy owned up, so now i can come home on saturday afternoon instead of sunday morning. some people are just so hard to understand.

alot of people are beginning to wonder where they'd end up after bmt. and i'm no different. a bit hard to imagine life after bmt right now, simply because we've got no idea, and also because we've become so adjusted to the life here at bmtc that anything different would seem difficult to adjust to. but oh well... what will be will be, but i'll still put in my effort, and hopefully i can survive SIT test without any major bumps and bruises

got selected for the falcon drill team. honestly the sgts don't seem very enthusiastic about it. they seem to be doing it because they have to do it, and submit a team for the competition in 2 weeks time. cougar selected their team right at the beginning of bmt, and we've only started 2 weeks before the end of bmt. how quaint. and they expect us to try to bring honour and glory to the company. no doubt we'll try, but they haven't exactly provided us with the best foundation to start with. all that being said, i'm glad that learning all those drills for AP, NP day parade and all my drill badges has paid off, because there's no drill that they're trying to teach us that i don't know. not counting fancy drill of course. don't know how that's going to work out, but i'm expecting something not-too-spectacular, considering the time frame we have to work with. at least i got jia yinn with me. was hoping that shaun and zhihong could be in too, but unfortunately they changed their minds about the competition.

i really think that if i was in their shoes, having not learnt a single arms drill before coming to NS, i would've dropped out too. not because i'm too chicken to try, and don't want to learn, but simply because the commanders aren't providing enough opportunity for us to prepare for the competition. they expect us to put in effort to train for the competition, yes that is understandable, but they are not putting in effort into helping us train for the competition. they could've started so much earlier. even before field camp! but they've chosen to start so late, and therefore have made it more difficult for those who are willing to learn and try to pick up the necessary skills, and would therefore most probably push them into the reserve team. not very supportive if you ask me.

ok ENOUGH ABOUT ARMY FOR NOW!!! wednesday... 6 months for me and wendy. really fast indeed. but it's only about 1.5 months of army gone. 1 year and 8.5 more months to go. within that time she'll be starting uni, and i'll be off in some foreign jungle now and then probably for weeks on end. the real test will begin after POP. but i'm not going to let go... not for as long as i've got breath in me!
