bye bye '09...
i've finally found the motivation to blog! wanted to a couple of times, but just didn't get around to doing it. better look back at 2009 before i forget.
the semester at the beginning of the year went well. rescued my miserable GPA hahaha 1st semester of year 2... i knew i wouldn't do too well. my target was just to minimise the drop in my GPA. in the end i kind of achieved it. only dropped by 0.01 points, which more or less means i'm still in the hunt for a 2nd upper. sem 2 in year 2 SHOULD be easier than sem 1, mainly because i've cleared the harder maths module, and gotten tech comm and electricity out of the way. the hardest module i predict will be fluids. the good thing is that it's now 3 AUs only, so if i screw up it wouldn't be as heavy a blow. so my GPA is now 3.75... exactly half way towards 2nd upper. i'm hoping to pull it up to at least 3.85 by the end of the coming semester. pray and hope i get more A-s. and i'm still hunting for that elusive A. getting a bit irritating, but at least i've got alot of A-s and B+s hahaha and i'm sick of seeing Cs. they just totally ruin your day. but still better than da-baoing i guess.
suddenly remember what happened to me on the night of my devastating thermo paper. listening to 987fm... the muttons to midnight have been naming the days for quite a while. like "woowoo" wednesday, or "toottoot" thursday. as long as the sound starts with the 1st letter of the day it'll do. so that night i was waiting for wendy to get off work at the carpark outside the international school just outside town. and the muttons came on happily saying "today is... TA BAO TUESDAY!!!" omg... i swear my jaw dropped, and i could feel my lungs tense up and my heart skipped a few beats. i just sat there and stared with my mouth wide open, at utter disbelief at what i was hearing on the radio. of all the days for them to choose the word ta-bao... it had to be on the day of my worst paper. that hung around in the back of my mind for a couple of days after that, and it bugged me again as the results drew nearer. waiting for results takes years off your life man. it's just very very bad for your health.
wendy started working this year! big change for both of us. she's used to being free during my hols, but this time she's damn busy and that made her damn sian at work everyday. had to try to motivate her to work every day hahaha it kind of worked after a couple of weeks =p better late than never right? she likes the job, but a particular senior really demoralised her and a few other colleagues. not much EQ i guess. unavoidable in the working environment. but i still think i'd rather work than study. sure you get nice long holidays while you're studying, but i'd prefer to be able to slack when i get home, take it easy and just do my own things. feeling guilty whenever you switch on the tv or go on facebook every single weekday during the school term just sucks =p
christmas and nye were fun-filled and eventful! ate ALOT, played ALOT, slacked ALOT! hahaha it was all fun! parties began on the 23rd with t19 dinner at my place. tried our hand at cooking again, and we had turkey! we pretty much cleaned it out. not much left over food. we're getting better at estimation man hahaha previous years we had quite alot of leftovers, which meant i had plenty to eat at home after that. AND! band hero proves to be much more popular hahaha tested and proven. for both guys and gals =)
had a family dinner on christmas eve, a christmas day lunch and a christmas day dinner. lots of ham and turkey basically. met wendy's classmates at marche at 313. another big meal. the food's still good! tonight went to shaun's house for dinner! the last of the new year meals. played pictionary and charades after that. damn entertaining. good to see all of them again, even though i see neo and shaun in school quiteo often. but we just don't hang out that often. never gets boring with them around. met up with rao and bang for dinner too. walked around bugis area quite a bit. eat quite a bit of random stuff too! hahaha they came over to my place for guitar heroes too! i don't think i'll ever get bored of that game man. oh yeah met up with shuling and weichang too. hongkong cafe at ion. didn't go far cos wendy had work the next day. they wanted to eat durian crepes at goodwood park hotel but the restaurant was already closed. all the aussie ppl are back for hols. good to see them =)
and a first for me... nye i went to sentosa with wendy for the countdown party. initally thought of buying the tickets myself, but decided against it. but apparently someone up there wanted me to go and experience the whole thing, and my dad asked me in the day on the 31st if i wanted 2 free tickets! so... why not? hahaha would've cost me more than 50 for 2, even with early bird discounts. but at the end of it, i don't think i'll go again, unless i had free tickets hanging around hahaha there were 2 things i did "achieve" over there though. it was my 1st clubbing experience (yes noob i know, but some say we should try things at least once in our life right?), and it was fun! except... we just needed some better music. seriously. hahaha AND! steph's younger sister's friend's boyfriend's friend *double checking* stays on sentosa in one of those private estate. so we went to check it out. all i can say WOW! it's seems so americanised. the houses have no front gates, they all have their own swimming pools, and in their backyard? a waterway with their own personal dock for their yachts!!! the only thing i felt was lacking was lamborghinis and ferraris. i seriously thought i'd see at least a handful of them! i guess they were all out partying. either that or, all the massive humps in the area just kept the residents from owning them hahaha but the housing estate was really impressive. all rich people. it did have a bit of a kampong feel to it, because there were no gates, but somehow i think they wouldn't socialise with their neighbours that much? because of the worry-about-myself-only lifestyle in singapore, and because they're all RICH! i hope i'm wrong though... really do.
well the new year is here! 2010 should be a pretty standard year for me... i hope. don't want any big surprise changes to my life. small ones are welcome of course, like a car or something hahaha
reminder: remember to clear your ippt. $200 would be a nice new year gift from mindef hahaha
