shock start...

due to my week of absence from school during week 3, all thanks to H1N1 (btw i'm still cursing the bugger who went out when he was sick... hoping he loses control of his bladder and wets his bed hahaha), i'm finding myself very very far behind in tutorials so far this sem. i'm guessing even if i wasn't sick i'd still be behind, but maybe not by such a large margin.

2001 - by the end of today i'll be lagging by 1.
2012 - this is the only one i'm up to date with, because we have to submit assignments the following week so i have no choice but to keep up with it. plus there's no exam.
2008 - i did get started on the first tut, but she hadn't gone much into it at that time. since then i haven't touched it at all. missing another one this afternoon. lagging by 3.
2007 - the lecturer goes damn freaking fast. only halfway through tut 1, which has 30 questions. this friday he's starting on tut 2. i have a hope of catching up with this one...
2010 - thermo... damn dry topic... not a bad lecturer, but i haven't done a single tut yet. lagging by 4. worst mod so far this sem.

i've got a lab report and a damn tough design assignment due next week. and if i'm not wrong, i'll have an assignment for my linguistics elective due next week too. i'll find out tomorrow. omg omg omg... if something big is due next week for tech comm then i'm shit screwed again. lab report on tuesday, elective assignment on wednesday, design and tech comm on thursday.

the reality of year 2 is sinking in. when they said it was tough, i was getting mentally prepared for it. but being away from school for a week completely threw me off track, and now it's running away from me very quickly. i'm doing all i can to catch up with it, and the only reason i'm blogging now is because i've got to make my weekly journey to the south in about 20 minutes. so in case i don't blog until after my CAs the following week, i'll know why next time.

oh yes another thing sucking my time up this sem is C1. learning to use solidworks for EID. i've spent about 7 hours in the comp lab so far, and done 71/120 pages of the manual. not bad la i guess, since they said about 15 hours was required. but i'm not sure if the 15 hours included the assignment we're supposed to do at the end of it. initially i was hoping to get this part out of the way ASAP, but it's taking up a hell lot of time that i could've used doing tuts. gotta reprioritise again. need to sacrifice my weekends too =(

on a positive note, wendy's sales are picking up!!! making quite good money! hahaha i'm very happy for her because she did put alot of effort into setting up her blogshop. good job baby! =) oh and she's started her job at recruit express too. so far it seems like the perfect work environment for her. only problem is the freezing cold aircon that can't be controlled. and her direct boss said she needs to exercise more!!! stupid boss... not everyone has to be as slim as u!!!

snapping back to reality, time to start chasing the semester...

holy crap!

this sem has turned out to be a very very very busy one. projects abound, tough things to try to absorb, and gotta figure out a new study time because i spend about 1.5 to 2 hours everyday on the road now. that's damn tiring. and i don't have an extended period where i can just sit down and study now. i at most have 2 hours here and there, but nothing solid. damn...

i picked up 2 interesting quotes over the past 2 days of lecture. the first came from my maths lecturer. he said...

"that's the interesting thing about maths. sometimes you may learn but you may not realise"

oh well... i guess that's true to a certain extent. another quote, i picked up from my friend after going through an hour and a half of thermo lecture.

"i feel like stabbing myself."

i guessed that sums it all up

back to the old school...

headed back to cj today, with the intention to play volleyball and to enjoy some good ol' cj canteen food. it was really hot today, but we still played for a while under the grandstand. and my god we can still play!!! hahaha by we i mean me, wendy, tini and cheryl. i was damn surprised cheryl came, because i haven't seen her since december! hahaha it didn't dawn on me that she's back until she sat in the car for like 2 minutes hahaha so it's like she was never really gone. maybe that's because i don't usually see her for long periods of time anyway =p and miss many yong! told us in the morning that the canteen was closed! so we were all kind of bummed out. but after volleyball, we decided to go to the canteen to buy some ice cold drinks from the vending machine, and lo and behold, the yong tau foo stall was open!!! along with 2 other stalls that we've never bothered about! hahaha clar came along just as we sat down under the fan to cool down, so the 5 of us enjoyed cj yong tau foo together =) it was nice! the person who runs the stall has changed, but it still brought back some memories. but i think the sad thing was, there were some kids who actually stayed back after the national day celebrations to study in the library. yes i know the A levels are coming, but come on... take a break la!!! those were probably the ones who were gunning for scholarships. well i'm sure all their hard work will pay off, but it pays to relax too.

after that it took us a while to figure out where to go, and we finally decided to go to tini's house! never been there before! dropped her off at home a handful of times, but never been inside. on the way to tini's house we dropped cheryl at home for her tennis lessons. at tini's place i figured out indian poker, and we played asshole daidee until 430. it was damn funny. got videos of forfeits for indian poker on wendy's phone. catch tini and wendy doing pushups, and all 4 of us doing starjumps hahaha totally random stuff. it was a simple and relaxing day =)

i got some funny elective for next sem. technologically speaking. well... honestly speaking i don't know what it's about. it was my third choice, and i only put it down for 2 good reasons. first, i needed to apply for at least 3 PEs to get priority, and second, it didn't clas with any of my cores, which i have no choice but to take. so i got this funny thing, and i have to decide fast whether i want to drop it or not, because add/drop period will be here soon and it won't be hanging out for long. but i most probably will s/u it. just hope i get S!

getting some jitters about starting school again. i'm taking the not-so-conventional route, for once in my life. i managed to get into the design stream, which only a small number of each cohort get into. so i don't really know what to expect, but i know what i hope to achieve at the end of it. somehow i feel like i'm starting uni all over again. if i stayed in mainstream i wouldn't be as worried hahaha oh well... stepping out of my shell is something i don't do too often, but i think it'll do me good =)

INSTEP/GIP?

school's going to start soon, and i've been getting emails about overseas study programmes. i'd like to go for one of them, but looks like will have to put alot of effort into finding out whether there are courses that suit what i want to take there. i'm aiming to go in the second semester. will have to find out more about them first. main target is the US. mainly because i speak the language! hahaha going to europe will be harder cos the better technological universities are either in germany or switzerland, which will pose a big language problem for me =p
